Hello!

IMG_3073-1

I’m Elaine: wife, mom, friend, storyteller, quilter, reader, gardener, traveler, family history keeper and dreamer with thoughts and ponderings that interrupt my days and nights like flashes of light.  I am also a writer and I’m sharing here stories and pieces of life from my days.

I am a Christian pilgrim, chosen by God to walk in His daily provision of grace and needing it desperately!

One day, many years ago, my little one told me that she had a hard time understanding why her cousins called me “annie lane” when she knew my name was Elaine! Regional accents are such fun!

I liked the name Annie, it was my paternal grandmother’s nickname. I loved her dearly and I felt honored to share her name in some small way. I began to use it to sign crafted pieces of my work and today, “annielane’s storypiece” is the watermark I use on my photographs as well.

Thank you for visiting with me, please leave a comment!

Hi, Elaine: saw your comments on Cathy’s post (Morning Musings); thank you for your kind words…and congratulations on winning the Tasha Tudor book! (I really had my heart set on it … *sigh*) LOL! It was very generous of Cathy to share it, and especially kind of her to invite me and others to share her blog space. And we’re mutual ‘girlfriends’ of Susan’s as well? It really IS a small world after all, isn’t it? 🙂 I pre-ordered A Fine Romance, so was among the first in line to receive my copy; LOVED it. After following along via Twitter and her blog before, during, and after her trip, the book did not disappoint. I got to meet her at a book signing in 2000, and am hopeful she might still make it to southern Alabama for a signing this year.

Nice to ‘meet’ you; will be watching for you in the future…

Sharon, Thank you for visiting and your kind words. Although I had a dollhouse to play with, I often made cabins with my brother’s Lincoln Logs so it was a delight to see your wonderful grown-up cabin.
Yes, I think there are many kindred spirits to be found with Susan’s book.I’m so glad you got to meet her! How wonderful to be able to chat if only for a moment or two.

Elaine, Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I’m so glad to have found yours! What a lovely place you have here. I had noticed the picture watermark of “annielane”, so it was fun to read the story of that here. I need to come back and read some more!

I’ve realized the comment section is closed on your older blogs. But now that I know you are here I can visit and comment in a timely manner 🙂 Enjoyed the post of Spiritual Whitespace. I haven’t read Bonnie’s book yet, but it’s on my wish list. After reading your post I’m a bit more anxious to get the book and get started!

so so deeply touched to find you…..that you carried my words to under your cover. and then stepped under the star-stitched dome on a cold november’s night. i feel as if my deepest prayers have been answered: dear God, make these little wisps of prayer blow across the landscape and settle into listening, open hearts.

bless you…..(forgive me for commenting here; this might not be the right place to be leaving a comment about a post. but i was just overcome reading you…..gently, b.)
